“You turned my wailing into dancing;
you removed my sackcloth and clothed me with joy,
that my heart may sing your praises and not be silent.
Lord my God, I will praise you forever.” Psalm 30:11-12
Dionicio Corona has been a good friend of Charlie & Pat for several years. Dionicio was a leader in Panabajal village and helped open doors so His Appointed Time Ministries could impact and influence the
community through safe stoves, water filters, improving public schools, medical teams, etc., but mainly to give the message of the Good News of Jesus Christ and His love.
Five years ago Dionicio went to the bank with his brother to withdraw money, and they were assaulted on their way out. Both were injured by bullets. Dionicio’s brother was slightly hurt, but Dionicio got the worst of it…he was paralyzed from the waist down.
It has been a rough path for Dionicio: health issues (he needs to use a catheter all the time), moments of depression, feeling helpless, being disabled. After a lifetime of being able to walk and being a very active man, he now has to depend on a wheelchair and his family’s help to move at all.
Despite the fact that Dionicio lost his ability to walk, there is something he didn’t lose, something which gives him hope upon hope: Jesus, His Word and His promises that transcend generations. Dionicio
believes with all his heart that God will restore his spine and legs and he will walk again. His courageous and joyful spirit is contagious and encouraging. He even surprised his Physiotherapist a few months ago when he decided to drive his small ATV (operated only with his hands) for 7 miles to get to his appointment!
A couple of weeks ago Dionicio, his wife, Marta, her parents, and their 8 children came to visit us here on the mountain. We shared a snack and had a great time of fellowship, a time that God had scheduled
on His agenda. We worshiped the Lord for a moment and when Dionicio saw the guitar his eyes lit up, and he told us about the old, broken guitar at his house that he uses to lead worship at his church. In that very moment God spoke to the heart of Charlie and Pat… And guess what?
When the time came for Dionicio and his family to go back home, Charlie said to Dionicio, “Don’t forget your guitar!” Dionicio’s face lit up in an extraordinary way. His wife Marta burst into tears as did her mother. They didn’t have enough words to express their emotion and gratitude; the whole family was very excited.
If you visit us here on the mountain you simply can’t go home without visiting Dionicio, and if you already know him, you can’t resist visiting him again… And next time he just might play a song for you!
Thank you all for your prayers and financial support that allows us to be useful instruments in the hands of God… at His Appointed Time!
